Will Baker is a life long equestrian. Riding casually during the summer throughout his junior years, he began to focus on riding as a career at 18 years old, when he started work as a working student for Sulu Rose-Reed and Derek Reed at Reed Training and Sales in Mechanicsville, VA. During his 3 years there, he moved up from being a working student to Head Groom and Road Manager. Being responsible for the care of 15-20 horses at a time, Will learned how to efficiently provide excellent care for the clients and horses at Reed Training and Sales.
In order to pursue his goal of riding at the top of the sport, Will moved to Europe to expand his knowledge. Traveling first to Switzerland to work for Irish Team member, Niall Talbot, Will then moved to Germany to learn about breeding and the proper development of young horses.
Upon his return to the United States, Will started working at Parkwood Equestrian in Idaho Falls, ID. While there he developed his skills as an instructor, giving many students their first riding lessons and coaching others to success in the show ring in the Hunters, Jumpers and Equitation. Will was also able to use the skills he learned in Europe to develop sale horses and aid in the sale of over 100 horses a year during his time at Parkwood.
He then went on to be the head rider at Kirin Farm in Kansas City, Kansas. While there, Will continued to teach students at all levels and was able to focus on developing his skills as a Grand Prix rider. Coaching and competing throughout the Midwest and wintering in Florida, he had numerous top 10 Grand Prix finishes.
During the 2017 and 2018 show season, before starting Coast To Coast Equestrian, Will worked at Hunter Holloway Stables in Topeka, Kansas as a trainer and rider.
Will opened Coast To Coast Equestrian in April 2018 and has continued his success in both the Grand Prix and hunter derby rings, in addition to helping his students qualify for pony finals, junior hunter finals and equitation finals each year.
